Crafter and MAN TGE planning
VW Crafter and MAN TGE window buying guide
Plan each window around your van body, wheelbase and interior. Some later Crafter and MAN TGE side windows share a listing, but rear-door glass is vehicle-specific. Check every pane before ordering or cutting.

Identify the exact panel
Five checks before you build a window shortlist
A shared category is a starting point. Compatibility comes from the individual product and selected option, including any wheelbase or vehicle exclusions.
Vehicle body and generation
Identify whether your van is the earlier Crafter body or the later Crafter/MAN TGE body. At a model change, use photographs and the product description as well as the registration year.
Wheelbase and panel length
Record the wheelbase designation and check the exact listing. The reviewed later driver-side slider lists MWB, LWB and LWB+ and excludes short-wheelbase models. Middle and rear-quarter products have their own length restrictions.
Physical side and position
Specify the physical side and whether you need the front-side panel, sliding door, middle panel, rear quarter or rear door. A side-window description must identify the exact panel.
Rear-door identity
A Crafter and a MAN TGE may share some side-glass listings, but their reviewed barn-door products are separate. Send rear-door photographs when selecting replacement glass.
Interior and fitting materials
Mark the bed, seating, kitchen and storage positions before choosing glass. Check access to opening mechanisms, screen placement, trim and the adhesive quantities recommended for each pane.

These selected examples illustrate different fitment checks. They are not a complete conversion kit and are not interchangeable. Check the listing, quantity and selected option.

MAN TGE rear-door pair: not suitable for Crafter
Crafter and TGE questions
Generation, panel and rear-door answers
Which generation of VW Crafter glass should I buy?
Start with the van body, not just the registration year. Camper Glass keeps the earlier Crafter/Sprinter range separate from the later Crafter/MAN TGE range. The later catalogue uses a 2017-onwards description on the reviewed side-glass products, while some search phrases refer to the new shape as 2018. Those phrases do not establish compatibility.
If your van is near a model change, compare its body and window position with the listing photographs and send photographs to the team. Keep the selected glass and trim in the correct range. The later Crafter/MAN TGE catalogue is the starting point for the products illustrated here; use the earlier Crafter/Sprinter range for the older body and check the exact listing.
Do VW Crafter and MAN TGE windows fit both vehicles?
Some later side-window products are listed for both vehicles. That does not make every pane interchangeable. The reviewed MAN TGE rear barn-door pair explicitly states that it is not suitable for Crafter. A separate Crafter barn-door product appears in the same catalogue.
For rear glass, identify the vehicle and each rear-door position before choosing a pair. If replacing factory glass, confirm any wiper, heating or other features you need rather than assuming that a privacy pane reproduces them. A shared category heading, similar appearance or related-product recommendation is not enough to establish fitment. Send rear-door photographs and the product links if there is any uncertainty.
How do wheelbase and panel position affect the choice?
The reviewed later driver-side sliding window is for the panel opposite the sliding door. It explicitly excludes short-wheelbase models and lists MWB, LWB and LWB+ compatibility. Keep that restriction attached to this exact product instead of assuming that every pane in the range has the same fitment.
The catalogue also has middle and rear-quarter glass labelled LWB/XLWB. A suitable front-side pane does not prove that a middle or rear-quarter pane fits. Record the wheelbase, physical side and panel position for every item on your shortlist. If your vehicle paperwork, the catalogue and your own description use different length terms, send photographs and ask the team to confirm the product before ordering or cutting.
Should I choose fixed, sliding or Safari windows?
Choose the function at each position. Fixed glass can provide daylight and a view without an opening mechanism. A slider provides an opening section and may suit an accessible seating or sleeping area. Safari products offer another opening style, but their operation and clearance must be checked against the exact product and your conversion.
The reviewed driver-side slider has a recessed finish, described as a 15 mm recess when closed, and stained privacy glass. That is a feature of this listing, not a description of every opening window. Check the physical side, opening mechanism, latch access and furniture clearance. Close and secure opening windows according to their instructions before driving.
Plan ventilation for the whole interior. An opening window on its own does not establish that the conversion has adequate ventilation. Use the shared fixed and opening comparison for the wider style decision, then return to the exact Crafter or TGE pane for compatibility.
How should I plan rear glass and night-time privacy?
Rear windows can provide a view from a bed or seating area when the interior leaves that view clear. A rear door backed by tall storage may serve a different purpose. Sketch the furniture before choosing the glass and decide which positions need a view, daylight or an opening section.
Privacy glass is not a guarantee of privacy after dark. Interior lighting can make the van easier to see into, so plan curtains or blinds for sleeping and changing. Check the correct vehicle-generation and window-position fitment for the screening products as well as the glass.
If you want an opaque panel, use the shared privacy and blackout guidance and ask about the exact product available for your van. Do not select an opaque option at a position where you expect daylight or a view. The MAN TGE barn-door pair is privacy glass and is not a Crafter rear-door substitute.
How much adhesive and which trim will I need?
The reviewed driver-side slider and MAN TGE barn-door pair state that no fitting kit is included. Both recommend one double fitting kit per window for these larger panes. A pair of rear-door windows must be counted as two panes when confirming the fitting materials. Check the final product instructions and quantities with your fitter rather than buying a single kit because the order contains a single product line.
The double fitting-kit listing describes enough materials for one Crafter or Sprinter window. Confirm the recommendation for your exact TGE pane and installation. Trims also differ by position: front-side interior trim, rear-quarter finishing trim and barn-door trim are separate decisions. A related-product card alone is not proof of compatibility.
Inspect the glass and opening mechanism before cutting or bonding. Follow the actual adhesive-system instructions for preparation, working conditions and curing. Use the fitting guide alongside those instructions. Ask for help before work starts if the glass, aperture or materials are unclear.

Plan the whole conversion
Three practical window layouts
A later Crafter with a side-facing seating area
Start with the front-side positions and compare a fixed pane with a slider where the opening can be reached. Check the specific driver-side slider’s wheelbase restriction and the passenger-side product separately. Keep the latch accessible after the seat, trim and blinds are fitted.
A long-wheelbase conversion with a rear bed
Mark the bed height and storage before adding middle or rear-quarter glass. Check each LWB/XLWB-labelled product against the precise position. Decide whether rear-door glass will provide a useful view from the bed. For a Crafter, choose the Crafter rear-door product, not the MAN TGE pair.
A MAN TGE with rear doors and a compact kitchen
Separate the side-glass selection from the rear-door selection. Compare the exact TGE barn-door pair and count both panes when planning fitting materials. Position any opening glass so the kitchen and storage leave the mechanism accessible; discuss clearances with your converter.
These are planning examples, not tested conversion packages. Build a position-by-position shortlist and use live prices and stock when comparing the final order.
Send Camper Glass the vehicle, body generation, wheelbase, physical side and panel position. Include photographs of the van and rear doors, links to the products you are comparing, and a simple description of the bed, seating and storage layout.
Start in the later Crafter/MAN TGE range or the earlier Crafter/Sprinter range. Confirm each pane, selected option and fitting material before placing the order.
